Only 1% of LinkedIn users post content.
That means there’s a 99% space for all of us.
But still, not everyone would crush LinkedIn this year.
If you’re on LinkedIn, you probably want to:
Build your reputation
Demonstrate your expertise
Generate opportunities for yourself
It’s becoming tougher to compete on the platform.
For this article, I want to share 5 tips to help you win on LinkedIn.
Tip 1: Define your Specialization
In marketing, talking to everyone means talking to no one.
This is why being clear with your Ideal Client Profile (ICP) is critical.
I have a simple formula that you can use to refine your niche and specialization.
It’s the X + Y + Z formula.
X = What you do
Y= Who you do it for
Z = What results are you offering
My example would look like this:
I coach service professionals to accelerate revenue and LinkedIn growth.
Let me break this down:
X (What I do) = business coaching
Y (Who I do it for) = service professionals
Z (Results I offer) = revenue and LinkedIn growth
Don't try to sound clever but confusing when you're writing your headline.
Don’t use big but unclear words like “emerging brands.”
Avoid generic terms such as “founders or business owners.”
“You” doesn’t mean anything either.
Your action point: Make your headline more defined, clear, and focused on your audience.
X+Y+Z - this is my formula for writing a winning headline.
Give it a try.
Tip 2: Optimize your Profile
Speaking of headlines, it’s only 1 aspect of your profile.
On LinkedIn, those who attract and capture their audiences win.
With this said, I want to share my 7 LinkedIn profile Optimization checklist with you.
Creator Mode – be sure it’s turned on.
Profile Photo – a clear and quality headshot.
Banner Image – use it as your credibility billboard.
Headline – go back to tip 1.
Custom Link – add a url but customize your CTA.
About Section – please don’t make this a resume.
Featured Section – create an offer whether free or paid.
Remember, you should treat your profile page as a landing page.
It’s where you can reinforce your expertise, capture your audience, and even make a sale.
I suggest you look at my profile here for more details of each checklist.
Tip 3: Post Content Regularly
Your content is what drives awareness to your brand.
It's what builds your reputation in the market.
A few key winning moves for your content would be:
Post at the same time for every piece of content
Post contents that solve a problem in your niche
Post relatable personal stories
I see a lot of LinkedIn creators that post for the sake of it.
That was my mistake when I started.
If you want people to notice you, spend more time and effort writing your content.
Develop a content strategy. Establish your pillars. Build your content system.
It can help you write more compelling posts more efficiently.
Tip 4: Write Better Hooks
95% of your content success lies in the power of your hooks.
It's the first 1 to 3 lines of your every post.
It’s what I call the MOBH – make or break headlines.
Here are 3 quick tips that can help you instantly improve your hooks:
Write under 8 to 10 words
Limit to 49 to 150 characters
Focus on 1 topic for each hook
If you struggle to write hooks that stop the scroll, I’ve got 100 hook formats, 100 hook examples, and 100 hook templates that you can use as a cheat sheet.
This guide can help shorten your learning curve and get instant results in 1 hour.

Tip 5: Smart Commenting
50% of your success lies in your content.
The other 50% lies in your ability to do smart commenting.
A smart comment has 3 criteria:
It adds value.
It speaks to other readers.
It sounds like a human and not an AI.
Ditch the lazy “great post” or “amazing” comments.
Instead, make it your “mini post.”
Comment not only to the author but to other commenters as well.
Remember, if you post 1x a day, then you’ve got 1 chance to be seen by your community.
But if you comment 20x a day, that’s a 200% increase in your visibility.
To recap, here are your 5 tips to win the LinkedIn game this 2024:
Identify your Audience
Optimize your Profile
Post Content Regularly
Write Better Hooks
Do Smart Commenting
With these tips, you can drive more momentum and gain more success from LinkedIn.
I’m rooting for your success and excited for your growth.
Best,
Leonard
